Aquaculture, fish farming and fish breeding in aquariums, requires a knowledge of biological filtration by the Biofilter , for removal of Ammonia , Nitrites and Nitrates in water, to suit fish such as Cichlids, Discus, Clownfish, and Carp, and a myriad of other aquatic life such as Redclaw, Octopus, Coral or even Seahorse.
The Fish-farmer and breeder requires knowledge of engineering to build re-circulating systems for aquarium, and to design fluidised bed and sand filters. Operating an aquarium properly requires knowledge of many facets of Marine Biology and an understanding of fish diseases and health risks to fish and other aquatic organisms in an aquarium and other aquatic environments.
Seafood, Fingerlings and Aquarium stock must be marketed , processed and shipped.
And in most aquaculture and aquarium companies, this and more, is all achieved initially by one person.
